In the constant search to advance towards more efficient, cleaner and sustainable production processes, Ingeagro SA carried out a successful day of sorbate application on dried plum using the UBV Fullcover electrostatic spraying system, marking an important technological leap compared to the use of traditional nozzles.
The activity took place at Frutexsa's Buin plant, consolidating a key collaborative effort between the private sector, applied research and the fruit industry's export associations.
Technical Challenges and Application Objectives
The transition to precision spraying technologies responds to the need to optimize the use of chemical inputs without compromising the safety and quality of the final product. During this event, the Fullcover UBV electrostatic technology was evaluated based on three fundamental pillars:
Operational efficiency, water savings and lower costs: Substantial reduction in water consumption and in the total volume of input applied per ton of fruit, resulting in a direct decrease in operating costs and a significantly more rational and sustainable use of water resources.
Homogeneity and concentration: Compliance with established standards for the product used, the fruit species, and the market. The required standard was 1,000 ppm of sorbate in the fruit, which was achieved uniformly throughout the processed batch.
Superior coverage and adherence: Thanks to the electrostatic charge imparted to the microdroplets, the product is distributed in an enveloping manner over the surface of the fruit, achieving optimal adhesion and reducing losses due to runoff or drift.
Strategic Alliances for Innovation
The success of this application reflects the joint commitment of leading professionals and institutions in the technical development of the national agribusiness sector. The event featured the active participation of directors and specialists from CREAS, Frutexsa, Chileprunes Association, and Ingeagro SA.
CREAS: Araceli Olivares, Researcher.
Frutexsa: Sergio Baeza, Plant Manager; Claudia Pinochet, Quality Manager; Carolina González, Head of Quality and Quality Assurance.
Chileprunes Association: Pedro Acuña, Executive Director.
Ingeagro SA: Tomás Yakasovic, General Manager.
The Impact of Fullcover on the Industry
FULCOVER's UBV electrostatic spraying technology reaffirms that innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. By replacing conventional nozzle methods, processing plants not only raise their quality and safety standards, but also drastically reduce their water footprint and the environmental impact resulting from the excessive use of aqueous solutions.
At Ingeagro SA we continue working together with our strategic partners to transfer cutting-edge technology to the field and industry, promoting an increasingly modern, competitive and sustainable agro-industrial model.
