WINE TRACEABILITY
Yakasovic is the CEO of Ingeagro SA, also part of the UPL group. He's also the creator of this software for tracking sulfites.
"What we came to do is to improve and provide an alternative to a procedure that It is done quite manually and in a rudimentary way so far., with equipment that can do so accurately, traceably, and with the operator's care, since handling sulfurous wine, whether in tablets or solutions, can also be harmful at the time of application," he explained.
Today, the traceability of this process is done manually, using a typical Excel spreadsheet. "We work with human-collected data. This system allows you to automate traceability and in a way control the applications of wine in the barrel, because each one has a number and the applications made in each barrel are recorded and controlled by the team," he indicated.
"Little by little an application log is created with each of these barrels. The system, being designed and preprogrammed It avoids, for example, erroneous sulphitations since the number of barrels is linked to the grams that I want to apply., and on the other hand, it avoids double sulfitation, which today results in inadequate sulfitation, with overdoses or without sulfitation, because the processes are manual and non-traceable,” he said.
And he illustrated: “In Chile, 10 years ago, you could find 80,000 barrels. Today, there are 850,000. And it means that it is of better quality and better price, today's trends are going in that direction."
